A Kinder Morgan is filing paperwork Monday with the Federal government to change the route of a proposed controversial natural gas pipeline. It would bypass central Massachusetts and goes through southern New Hampshire instead.
Originally, the pipeline was supposed to cut through 45 Massachusetts communities — from the Berkshires to Dracut. But local landowners and environmentalists argued the pipeline would destroy pristine land, parks, forests and backyards.
Kinder Morgan Spokesman Allen Fore says the new route would cross through a third as many Massachusetts communities.
